Our Journey

WHEN IT ALL BEGAN

2020

It was 2020 and volunteering was hard. We wanted to give back beyond writing a check, but we weren't sure how. Through conversations with people and organizations in Yemen, we discovered a way to make it easy: Project-based volunteering!

THE PILOT PROJECT

AUGUST 2020

An organization in Yemen asked for virtual mentoring for their coding cohort. For just an hour a week for three months, volunteers can make a meaningful impact. Working professionals from around the world, from the Yemeni diaspora and otherwise, eagerly signed up, thrilled to support Yemeni students.

ANOTHER STUMBLING BLOCK

2021

After our second mentorship project, we realized we could make a bigger impact with financial support. Committed to our tagline "Helping Beyond a Donation," we brainstormed and sourced local talent in Yemen to help.

ENTER TREASURES OF YEMEN

2022

We evolved from an informal passion project with the creation of the Yemen map puzzle. Our big project in 2022 was bringing this product to life, thanks to a dedicated team of volunteers and a freelance designer in Yemen. We formalized our efforts, got a new look, and became a 501(c)(3) nonprofit.

READY. SET. GO.

2023

By March 2023, we were selling our puzzles and sold out within a year. We launched a new long sleeve Yemen shirt while expanding medical missions in Ibb and Aden, along with other projects. It was a BIG year for Rise for Yemen.

WHERE WE'RE GOING NEXT

2024

In 2024, we're distributing funds from Treasures of Yemen, designing more products, and launching a new project in Yemen. We're also adjusting to the growth from '23. You can help make a difference by volunteering, following us on social media, and shopping on our site. 100% of profits go to projects in Yemen. Together, let's rise!
